This glossary defines key terms used throughout the Agile Transformation Playbook.
Agile Operating Model¶
The structure that defines how teams deliver value, how decisions are made, and how leadership governs delivery.
Artifacts:
Delivery System¶
The end-to-end flow of work from idea intake to customer delivery and feedback.
Related artifacts:
Value Stream¶
The sequence of activities required to deliver value to customers.
The playbook models delivery using a value stream that includes:
- idea intake
- development
- integration
- deployment
- feedback
- outcome measurement
Flow Metrics¶
Metrics that measure how efficiently work moves through the delivery system.
Examples:
- lead time
- cycle time
- throughput
- flow efficiency

An executive-level view of transformation progress using metrics across delivery, quality, product value, and culture.

Psychological Safety¶
A team environment where individuals feel safe to raise issues, challenge assumptions, and propose improvements without fear of blame.
This concept is important for:
- effective retrospectives
- transparency of risks
- continuous improvement
Systemic Impediment¶
A problem that cannot be resolved within a single team and requires organizational or leadership intervention.
Examples:
- cross-team dependencies
- governance constraints
- infrastructure limitations
